Been a while since I last posted an anime review. I’ve been working my way slowly through a few different seasons however, and hammered out a couple more reviews, with some still pending. Gunslinger Girl is one of my favourites, and don’t let the campy title put you off.
The Social Welfare Agency ostensibly saves the lives of children on the verge of death using cutting-edge medical technology. In fact, it takes them and turns them into deadly government assassins with cybernetic implants. Devoted to their handlers, these girls are at once deadly machines, yet retain the personality of the children they are under the surface. Artful, sombre, subtley told and full of dark notes and interesting contrasts, this series is a high-quality piece of anime as it tells the stories of half a dozen of these girls. Dear Jody,
Thank you for posting the entire text of the American Declaration of Independence in the comments section. In the interest of streamlining, and keeping readers engaged, I have replaced the block of text with a URL to the same, for those who wish to peruse it.
Perhaps you will indulge me as I respond http://www.anu.edu.au/polsci/marx/classics/manifesto.html
